Cheng Gay is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EnGro Corporation Limited. He was one of three founding members of the company, previously known as Ssangyong Cement Singapore Ltd. He led the company to IPO on SGX in 1983 and initiated EnGro's corporate venture capital (VC) investment programme in 1990 (VC funds and direct investments in US emerging growth companies).
He was formerly on the Advisory Committee of VenCap International (FOF management company) based in Oxford, UK and now sits on the board of VenCap Fund 11 which invests in China and India. He was also a former member of the Asian Advisory Committee to the Chairman of GIMV, a PE fund manager with total AUM of more than €1 billion, in Belgium. He is a "Friend of Charles River Ventures", having investing in ten consecutive funds (Fund VI — XV) of Boston-based Charles River Ventures since the 1990s.
Cheng Gay serves as a Panel Member, Requisition of Resources, Compensation Board (Undertakings) at MINDEF; a Senior Honorary Council Member for Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SCCCI); a member of the Board of Trustees at Chinese Development Assistance Council; a director of Business China and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre; a member of Singapore-Shandong Business Council; a Council Member of Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan; and a member of Tampines Junior College CAC.
Jer Luang has more than 30 years of experience in auditing, regulatory and corporate finance, with particular expertise in handling such issues in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). She specializes in analyzing business requirements of SMEs in order to formulate and implement specific processes designed to evolve with company growth objectives including monitoring and reporting of key financial metrics to help management meet business and strategic goals.
Jer Luang was the Founder and President of Chan Jer Luang & Partners until 2008. Prior to founding her own business, she was an internal auditor for the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) and a senior auditor at Pricewaterhouse (now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers, PWC).
She is active in helping non-profit organizations implement rigorous cost control and internal audit processes to achieve capital efficiency. Notably, Jer Luang is currently a non-practicing member and Fellow of the Institute of CPA Singapore. She is a founder and current President of DEW Credit Cooperative, a women-based micro-finance entity. She also sits on the Board and Credit Committee of the Singapore Credit Co-Operatives League. Various other positions held include the Treasurer of the University Women's Association (Singapore), a director of Epitaph Foundation Ltd, internal auditor of Khoon Chee Vihara, and secretary of the Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery restoration committee.
Joe is a well-respected financial manager with a strong track record of success. He is currently the Financial Advisor to Fortemedia Inc. He was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Celestry Design Technologies, an iGlobe portfolio company acquired by Cadence Design Systems. Prior to Celestry, Joe was the Chief Financial Officer of GRIC Communications (NASDAQ: GRIC), where he helped lead the company through its successful IPO. He was also the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of VeriFone Inc. (NYSE: VFI), serving as a key member of the management team selected to lead VeriFone's US$1.3 billion acquisition by Hewlett-Packard in 1997. Before that, he spent 20 years in a number of senior financial positions at Hewlett-Packard.
Joe began his career as an auditor with Arthur Andersen and is a certified public accountant in the State of California.
Mrs Selvam has over 50 years' experience in corporate finance having been at the forefront of the financial services and capital market’s development in Singapore. Her wide array of experience includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructures, takeovers, funds raising in the capital markets, privatizations, financial services, cross-border investments, financial services and international joint ventures.
Mrs Selvam has been closely involved in the legal changes driving the legal financial services sectors in Singapore. She was a member of the Company Law Reform Committee, which made major recommendations affecting the companies and securities laws in Singapore.
Mrs Selvam has been cited in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2018 edition as a recommended lawyer in Corporate and M&A – Local Firms in Singapore. Mrs Selvam was President of The Law Society of Singapore in 2003 and a former Director of the Stock Exchange of Singapore Limited. She was also a member of the Senate of the Academy of Law, the Board of Legal Education, and was formerly on the Board of the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority. Mrs Selvam is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors. She is a Director of Law Society Pro Bono Services and also a member of the Board of Trustees of Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation Ltd. She was a Director of JurongHealth Fund Limited.
Jan Johannessen has more than 35 years of executive and board experience in the emerging growth industry. He has a successful business and investment track record in the US, Europe and Asia. Jan has served as CEO and CFO of publicly listed companies in both the US and Europe, including Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC).
He has since been directly involved with a number of IPOs, M&As, joint ventures and customer and supplier partnerships around the world. He was previously a venture partner for Vertex Management (Singapore/US) and has served on a number of boards across a diverse range of industries and countries including Amlogic (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. (SSE: 688099.SS). Jan was the CFO of REC Silicon Corporation (OSE: RECSI.OL), a polysilicon company in the renewable energy sector. He served as the CEO of Conexant Systems where he was instrumental in transforming Conexant into a profitable leader in voice-enabled devices and next-generation audio applications, which made possible the sale of the company to a larger US technology company.
Jan joined the Board of Twist Bioscience Corporation (NASDAQ: TWST) prior to its 2018 IPO, and is the Chairman of the Audit Committee and member of the Nominating and Governance Committee. He also served as a Board Observer at NerdWallet Inc. (NASDAQ: NRDS)
